Seventeen Group

We are delighted to have been chosen as Seventeen Group’s London office’s Charity of the Year for 2018.  Thank you, your support makes a huge difference.

So a big welcome to the London teams from James Hallam, 4sight and Touchstone! This page gives you some guidance and ideas on how you can get involved with Arts 4 Dementia, whether by fundraising, volunteering or spreading the word.

Fundraising

We want to support you in all your fundraising efforts, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us! You can reach Imelda or Nigel on 020 7239 4954.

Royal Parks Half Marathon is our biggest event of the year and we would love you to join our 2018 team. It’s probably the UK’s best half marathon and a fantastic day for runners and supporters. The course passes through four of the Royal Parks and many of London’s most famous sites and there’s always an incredible atmosphere. Family and friends can track your progress on a mobile app, and the course allows them to see you dash by three or four times.

This year, the ballot for places was nine times oversubscribed! If you’d like to get involved, let us know – and those who don’t want to run the 13.1 miles can come along and cheer.

Individual Challenges. If there is any challenge you’ve been itching to do, whether a run, bike rides, skydive, swim, triathalon or climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, we’d be thrilled if you’d like to do it for Arts 4 Dementia. We’ll support you by providing t-shirts or running vests, and wherever possible coming along with our banners to cheer! We’ll also shout about your efforts and achievements on our social media channels, and in our quarterly newsletter.

Leisurely opportunities. If sporting endeavours don’t whet your appetite we’d love to support you in any other events you may like to put on – be it a cake sale, a quiz, a raffle or a pub crawl! Should you require A4D information leaflets, posters or sponsorship forms, please just ask.

Easyfundraising is an amazing tool, which allows you to fundraise whilst you shop online. Each time you buy a product or service – including insurance, holidays etc, – at one of 3,300 retailers (including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, Sainsbury’s, Booking.com…), a donation will be made to Arts 4 Dementia and it won’t cost you a penny! All you need to do is sign up for free here.

We are keen to arrange a fundraising event for the summer – a concert or showcase. We’d really welcome ideas, particularly of venues which may be suitable but affordable.

Volunteering

We’d love for you to see our work in action – and to help inspire and empower people living with dementia through arts engagement yourselves. We’ll let you know about our workshop “sharing” sessions, where we invite people to come along, participate, and get a feel for what the workshops are all about. We are passionate about the power the arts have to improve everyone’s lives, not just people with dementia. We’d love you to get creative with this, and see how you may be able to get involved.

We have our own full-day training sessions, geared towards arts facilitators who are looking to work with people with dementia. Check out our Eventbrite listing for more information. We’d also recommend, for a shorter introduction, the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme.

Spreading the word

We’ve produced three reports, which include information and statistics relating to the profound effects the arts can have on people with dementia. You’ll find them here. The first, Reawakening the Mind is an evaluation of our first 120 workshops across art forms and with case studies, best practice tips and more, serves as a toolkit to many arts organisations delivering their own workshops for dementia. You may also like to have a look at the groundbreaking work done by the Created out of Mind project, funded by the Wellcome Collection.

We’d love you to become advocates for Arts 4 Dementia, and help us to reach those most in need. Perhaps you have family or friends who know someone with dementia, who may benefit from our arts programmes? Our website provides the only known national listing of arts events for families affected by dementia, as well as dementia-friendly arts and heritage sites. We are building these listings up, but if you know of events or venues which aren’t listed, please tell us! Visit the A4D Ambassadors page for further details.

And a reminder for your friends…

Arts 4 Dementia (A4D) develops arts programmes to empower, re-energise and inspire people with early stage dementia and carers through challenging artistic stimulation, to help them live better for longer in their own homes. Our unique signposting website lists arts events for people living with dementia in the community, serving both those affected by dementia and arts organisations, enabling people looking for stimulation to find what’s on offer nearby. And our early-stage dementia awareness training for arts facilitators enables them to deliver effective workshops. A4D focuses on what people can achieve, often much more than they imagine.

A4D is a Registered Charity, No 1140842.
