Knole National Trust

Knole National Trust has been working towards becoming Dementia Friendly since 2015 with the help of Sevenoaks Dementia Friendly Community and their Dementia Awareness training. Since the Dementia Awareness training in 2015, Knole National Trust has endeavoured to become more accessible and a valued hub for the Dementia Community of Kent.

From this initial training, two dedicated volunteers from Knole have since became Dementia Awareness Champions and have trained an impressive 75% of staff and volunteers at Knole in Dementia Awareness. This training is now an essential part of the new volunteer and staff induction and has become integrated into the daily practice of the Knole staff and volunteers. Knole’s Dementia Champions have not only trained the majority of Knole’s volunteers and staff but also are striving to train other National Trust properties, the champions have recently trained staff and volunteers at Chartwell and Ightham Mote as well as people from a variety of different organisations in the local community.
