Glasgow Film Theatre

Glasgow Film Theatre runs Movie Memories, a monthly programme funded by Life Changes Trust. We present classic and contemporary film screenings alongside a programme of multi-arts entertainment.

This programme is designed especially for people affected by dementia. This encompasses people living with a type of dementia and their carers, friends and family.

With dementia aware staff and volunteers (Movie Memories Ambassadors) a safe and social environment is created where everyone is welcome.
People living with dementia play a central role in the programme delivery – Agnes Houston MBE is our Movie Memories Coordinator.

Movie Memories is developed and informed by a steering group which includes; GCVS Community Connectors, Dementia Carers Voices, Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland,DEEP network, Glasgow’s Golden Generation (formally Glasgow Old People’s Welfare Association), Alzheimer Scotland and Together in Dementia Everyday (TIDE).

Running alongside the programme we work with an academic researcher who is analysing how a dementia-friendly film programme can promote a ‘dementia positive’ community.
