Durlston Country Park Pleasure Grounds Project

An internationally important site for wildlife and geology on the Jurassic coast.

The ‘Pleasure Grounds’ Project will enhance Durlston’s Grade II-listed Victorian landscape for nature, history and the local community, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Lottery players.

Work will include path improvements, new viewpoints and woodland management to improve wildlife habitats and the condition of historic plantings. Victorian features will be restored and opportunities for ‘wild play’ created.

A new fully accessible work base will be opened for visitors to drop in and try a variety of light volunteering tasks; such as green woodworking, horticulture, and craft activities. The ‘Shed’ will enable visitors with disabilities, dementia or long-term health conditions to volunteer and learn new skills in a friendly social environment.

A lift-sharing scheme will support the existing Durlston Bus. Please contact the ranger team to find out more!
