MIXED MEDIA ART WORKSHOP - Common Threads in a Divided World
Explore your creative potential and learn a range of special art techniques in this mixed media workshop led by Artist Susan Bedford.
Taking inspiration from your local surroundings you will use photography, drawing, watercolour painting and stitching techniques to produce an abstract composition and unique piece of artwork.
The workshops will be delivered in three parts to give you time to learn and develop new skills with instruction, direction and encouragement from Susan. Suitable for all levels, no previous experience is required.
- Workshop One: Photography Sketched Studies. During this workshop you’ll explore photography concepts such as composition, cropping, rule of thirds, depth of field and outcome critique. From your chosen photograph you’ll turn your focus to drawing techniques which will form the base of your artwork. (Please be aware that you will need to have a camera phone or camera for this workshop and be familiar with the controls. If using a phone please ensure you know how to take a screenshot.)
- Workshop Two: Using your drawing from workshop one, you’ll start to introduce the use of watercolour, adding colour and detail to paper and then transferring these colours and technique onto fabric. There’ll also be the opportunity to work with other paints or ink if you wish.
- Workshop Three: In this final workshop you’ll further develop your artwork by considering reconstruction and deconstruction and complete with stitching techniques.
