Start the new year by becoming an Art Student for a Term!

Having teamed up with the UK’s leading art and design university Central Saint Martins in 2021 and 2022, we are delighted to be back for Term 3 of this groundbreaking programme! Join us for a series of practical art workshops for people with early-stage dementia or mild cognitive impairment and their companions.

Alongside their Programme Director for Art, students from BA Fine Art will act as facilitators using skills and techniques developed during their time at Central Saint Martins. This will be an opportunity for participants to engage in a variety of visual art practices. We will be using both traditional and digital skills but no previous experience is required.

Art School is a space for creative freedom and communal making. These workshops will offer an Art School experience helping you to discover your inner artist. The workshop is free of charge, no previous experience is needed, it’s all about giving it a go!

Need another reason to join Art School? Read some testimonials from last year’s programme:

“I’m really excited about being an art student on this project. I thought my first drawing experience was so enjoyable and it did such a great job bringing what I term as therapeutic calm, to my Brain. While on the workshop I literally forgot the stress related issues, which have been occupying my mind.”

“I’m learning that art is not just about paintings, the student facilitators give everyone time to take part and have their voice heard. I’m learning that I can express myself in art”

“It is impressive that people from such a prestigious college should give up their time to help people with this distressing and annoying condition which makes me exasperated with myself and intolerant of others…being encouraged to do something practical really helps. Now there is a purpose to Fridays”
