JOIN Science & Sculpture with A4D at the Science Museum
Date: June 9 – July 14
Time: 10:30 – 13:30 every Thursday
Venue: Science Museum, Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London, SW7 2DD
This workshop programme is for people experiencing early-stage dementia, mild cognitive impairment, memory challenges and their companions.
Arts 4 Dementia and the Science Museum are delighted to offer a 6-week programme of combined science and sculpture from the newly opened Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries.
Each session will focus on different objects from the medicine galleries, highlighting some of the fascinating themes such as representations of the human body and imaging in medicine. Participants will experiment with different mediums of sculpture, inspired by the marvellous stories showcased in the galleries.
The last 30 minutes of each workshop will be a time to reflect and socialise, with tea, coffee and refreshments available. Lunch will be provided after the session to give you the opportunity to socialise with fellow participants.
These workshops are aimed at those living with early-stage dementia, who are invited to attend with a companion – whether friend, family member or carer. No experience is required.
The workshop is free of charge and all materials will be provided.
