#CreateAndDonate in the 2.6 Challenge on April 26!

Arts 4 Dementia is joining Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving in the #twopointsixchallenge.

Give 26 minutes to inspire people at home living with dementia! Arts 4 Dementia offers stimulating arts opportunities, now through interactive Zoom programmes for people living with early stage dementia at home. We are also training artists to deliver their own programmes acroiss art forms and signpost these opportunities UK wide.  Never has the need been greater for older people who have so little company or stimulation. You can do anything on a theme of 2.6 or 26 or…

To support the 2.6 Challenge, Arts 4 Dementia is challenging you to take part in our very own #CreateAndDonate 2.6 twist on the challenge! During this difficult period we have been inspired by the creativity that we have seen in homes across the country, and we are now challenging you to create your very own masterpiece in 26 minutes. Whether it’s a toilet roll sculpture, a dance routine, a piece of poetry or a painting, we encourage people of all ages to get involved, showcase your creativity and challenge your family and friends to #CreateAndDonate.

How it works:

  1. Create your masterpiece within the 26 minute time-limit
  2. Share your masterpiece on social media via Instagram Stories (photo, video, timelapse – get creative!)
  3. Use the hashtags #TwoPointSixChallenge and #CreateAndDonate, tag @arts4dementia, and challenge 5 friends to do the same by tagging them
  4. Donate £26 or as much as you’d like to Arts 4 Dementia

Arts 4 Dementia will also be choosing their favourite masterpieces and sharing them on A4D channels, so make sure you give it your best shot!

Run for A4D in the Royal Parks Half Marathon – or take your pick of other events.

Royal Parks Half Marathon, 11th October 2020

This year we will be again participating in the Royal Parks Half Marathon, the UK’s best Half, with a bigger team than ever.  If you would like to run in this hugely popular half and raise funds for A4D,  assure your place quickly! Further information here.

Or you can support A4D at any of these events:

Brighton Marathon, 19th April 2020

The Brighton Marathon is one of the UK’s favourite 26.2-milers. With a stunning backdrop of the sea in one of the country’s most vibrant cities, the race gets bigger and better every year. Renowned for its buzzing atmosphere and roaring crowd support, the course winds through the city streets, finishing up on the spectacular Brighton seafront. The marathon is just one part of the Brighton Marathon Weekend, an event that also encompasses The Mini Mile Races, the BM10k and the Brighton Marathon Exhibition.

Hackney Half, 17th May 2020

Move together through Dalston, Haggerston and Hackney Wick on this ever more popular run, part of the Hackney Fitness Festival

ASICS London 10K, 5th July 2020

Virgin Sport and ASICS are teaming up and returning to central London next summer with a brand-new look for the ultimate street party. With entertainers, DJs, cheering fans and more at every kilometre – it’s a true celebration of fitness.

Rough Runner - London West - Saturday 10K

Rough Runner

2.5k / 5k Manchester, 20th/21st June
5k / 10k Finsbury Park, London, 5th September
5k / 10k Gunnersbury Park, London, 3rd/4th October

Inspired by TV game shows like Total Wipeout, Gladiators, Takeshi’s Castle and Ninja Warrior, this is the only event that will give you the chance to take on a load of epic obstacles that you’ve only ever seen on screen and always wanted to try.

6,500 Roughians nailed the Travelator last year at Finsbury Park, and another 6,000 at Morden Park, and we felt it was unfair for everyone in West London to miss out!  We know of no other event which brings a range of obstacles so massive, so ambitious, and so much fun right into our favourite London parks, so if you live or work in the capital, this is the perfect challenge for you.

Do it now. Regret it never.

If you would like to participate in any of these challenges email admin@arts4dementia.org.uk with the name of the event in the subject line.
