The Sofa Singers

for participants
for carers

Set up by vocal leader James Sills as a response to global self isolation during the Coronavirus outbreak, The Sofa Singers brings together hundreds of people in real time for 45 minutes of simultaneous singing, learning a classic song with some optional harmonies/backing parts.

James Sills is a musician, vocal leader, author and speaker who is passionate about bringing people together to sing.

He hosts a regular online singing session for hundreds of people from around the world. Once singers are registered via Eventbrite, they can use the free video calling software Zoom to connect with everyone from the comfort of their own homes.

The Sofa Singers encourages you to sing as if no-one is listening, because they won't be. Due to latency (delay) it is not possible to synchronise and hear all of the singers the same time. But you will be able to see each other so sing with a smile!

Afterwards, there's a virtual tea break followed by some open floor slots where individuals can say hello and share a song, a poem or a story. We’d love you to join us.
