Stay in Tune Thursdays
for participants
for carers
On Thursday afternoons during term time, the Horniman will become an age-friendly space for adults to socialise. Each week will include a range of music-based activities for all abilities as well as a variety of tours, demonstrations across the whole Museum and Gardens. We also make sure there is extra seating, volunteers to support your visit, the museum is a little quieter and there's even a deal on in the cafe. When the weather is a little more summery we'll also take some strolls in the garden and take some of the music sessions outside.
Key activities:
2.30–3.15pm: Hands on Music Session (dementia friendly)
A chance to play some of our instruments from around the world, find out more about the instruments and create some music in this fun and relaxed session.
3.30–4pm: Hear it Live! (dementia friendly)
Hear performances on our historical instruments in the music gallery.
4.15–5.15pm: The Aftershow - a music appreciation discussion
A chance to broaden your music knowledge, listen to and discuss your thoughts on different pieces in a relaxed and informal way.
Stay in Tune Thursdays runs every Thursday afternoon in term-time. For exact dates please see our website: https://www.horniman.ac.uk/visit/events/stay-in-tune-thursdays
