Work with professional illustrator Grace Holliday to explore techniques, visit and be inspired by the House of Illustration's exhibitions, develop skills and create powerful illustrations in this series of eight workshops at House of Illustration.

Each workshop will be followed by tea, coffee and time to socialise.

These workshops are aimed at those living with early-stage dementia, who are invited to attend with a companion - whether friend, family member or carer. No experience is required.

The workshops are free of charge and all materials are provided.

The sessions will explore different forms of illustrative communication through story telling, starting with a handling session and visual display of various drawings, books and items showcased in the gallery collection.  They will cover:

  • Sight (exploring colour, pattern and shape through mixed-media collage to create personal versions of characters)
  • Touch (experiencing the gestures and movement of drawing using a variety of textures / materials including fabric to create background surfaces)
  • Smell (an immersive handling session of living materials such as flowers followed by perfuming papers)
  • Sound (another immersive experience using the projector in the space to pair light with music, creating visual rhythms that are then captured on paper)

Thursdays from 10 October to 28 November, 10.30am - 12.30pm

Please arrive 15 minutes beforehand.
