Russian A4D Early-Stage Dementia Awareness Training with The British Council

Arts 4 Dementia is proud to have delivered a bespoke international training in partnership with The British Council and the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art to an audience of cultural professionals from across Russia.

The delegates included representatives from institutions such as The State Hermitage Museum, The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, The Manege Central Exhibition Hall, The State Tretyakov Gallery, The Gulag History Museum, and many more.

Taking place over two days, participants had access to simultaneous interpretation and translated slides on behalf of The British Council.

For many in attendance, this training marked their first step towards working creatively with people with dementia.

The training fostered a professional network that seeks to destigmatize dementia in Russia and promote inclusive creative practice in their museum, gallery, and heritage sites. We hope this will create the foundation for ongoing work, sustainable practice, and peer learning.

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. The training was initiated as part of the UK – Russia Creative Bridge 2021–2022  international programme and the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art’s inclusive programme.
